At Life in Green, we understand the connection between the health of the planet and the impact of disposable packaging. Every day we work to advance Zero Waste systems and help our customers transition into environmentally preferable packaging.
We make our products from cups to plates to containers, using renewable resources and post-consumer recycled content, but our work doesn’t end there. As an industry leader, we are adamant about scaling waste diversion practices by offering a broad assortment of compostable, biodegradable & recyclable disposable packaging solutions.
Developing a truly circular economy requires a multi-faceted approach, we continuously seek opportunities to curtail environmental impacts and encourage our partners to join us.
Also known as "bagasse", it is the dry, pulpy, fibrous material that remains after crushing the sugarcane. Typically, once the cane juice is extracted, the sugarcane stalk "bagasse" would be discarded. Thanks to a new technological process these crushed stalks are instead being saved and broken down into a pulp as a substitute to tree fiber. This process makes it a reclaimed resource that we use to create compostable products such as plates, bowls and takeout containers.
Also knows as "corn starch" material this is a biopolymer made from polylactic acid (PLA), derived from starchy plants such as corn, potatoes, tapioca, sugarcane, and soy protein. The plant is milled and processed to extract the starch, which is then converted into plastic. The plant-based liner is used for compostable cups. It is also the material used to make our compostable lids
Made using post-consumer recycled fibers produced through a self-sustaining process during which chemicals are either recovered or reused in kraft paper production. The uncoated kraft material used for our sleeves is both compostable and recyclable. Discover The coated takeout boxes are recyclable only. Discover
All our compostable cups, lids, sleeves, plates & bowls are BPI Certified. The certification guarantees that these products are compostable & biodegradable in an industrial composting plant. This applies to all materials used in the manufacturing process, such as inks and additives.
Products & packaging displaying the BPI logo meet the requirements in ASTM D6400 or ASTM D6868.
The marking signifies that a product is certified to compost in a home compost environment within a year. Home compostable tests are based on an Australian standard called AS 5810, this standard requires disintegration in 6 months, and biodegradation and compost formation in a year. Currently, there is no equivalent certification to OK compost HOME in the US or Canada, as BPI solely certifies for industrial compost. Therefore, OK compost HOME is the best certification to look for in the marketplace.
